‘constant contact’
Arsenal are one team said to be looking for reinforcements but none have materialized so far.
Mikel Arteta said he was in “constant contact” with the club’s hierarchy, while co-chairman Josh Kroenke currently arrived in the UK on Monday.
Arteta said: “We are in constant contact, obviously – understanding the situation, how the team is developing.
“Obviously, we’ve had some big news, unfortunately, they haven’t been as positive. How we feel about it, they’ve been very supportive and they’ve continued to be.”
Arsenal need a striker and have been linked with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Dusan Vlavic and Benjamin Cesko – but nothing looks set.
Asked if the owners would support him, Arteta replied: “Firstly, it’s supporting the club and ourselves, you know, because we all want the best.
“The decision we take is not to support anyone, it’s something that makes sense, it’s going to improve the squad, it’s going to enable us to perform at a level and win what we want to do. .
“If it is and we have the resources to do it, we will try.”
