AC Milan defender Emerson suffered a right calf injury, the Italian club announced on Thursday, and the Brazilian will be sidelined for up to two months.
“Emerson Royal has suffered a serious injury to his right calf,” AC Milan said in a short statement, without specifying the duration of his absence.
According to reports in the Italian press, this injury may exclude the 26-year-old for two months.
Emerson, who joined Milan from Tottenham for 15 million euros ($15.6 million) last summer, was injured early in his team’s 1-0 victory over Girona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Upon his return, the Brazilian will face competition for the right-back position from English defender Kyle Walker.
The former Manchester City captain arrived in northern Italy on Thursday for a pre-transfer medical.
However, Milan coach Sergio Conceiçao will not be able to count on the England representative in the next two matches, because the 34-year-old still has to complete administrative formalities.
AC Milan is eighth in Serie A, 19 points behind leader Napoli, but has won its last five Champions League matches and is guaranteed at least a play-off spot in the knockout phase.
