Tyler Dibling was one of the brightest lights in a dismal season for Southampton, who could yet break Derby County’s record for the lowest ever total points in a Premier League season (11).

However, Dibling’s performances have at least given fans something to be excited about, even if an immediate return to the Championship now seems inevitable.

Southampton are reportedly keen to keep Dibling until the summer, perhaps in the hope that he will inspire them to make a great escape. They currently have six points after 22 matches, 10 points behind after only one victory – a 1-0 victory over Everton in November.
