Serie A 2024-25: Late goals snatch 3-2 comeback win for Milan over Parma

Two stoppage-time goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Samuel Chukwueze gave AC Milan a remarkable 3-2 home win over struggling Parma in a dramatic match at the San Siro on Sunday.

The victory moves Milan to sixth place in the table with 34 points, while Parma is just above the relegation zone in 17th place with 20 points.

Parma took the lead in the 24th minute after a pass from Matteo Cancellieri, before Milan equalized from the penalty spot, and Christian Pulisic scored seven minutes before the break.

Enrico Del Prato put Parma ahead with just 10 minutes remaining, but Reijnders and Chukwueze struck late on to give the hosts three points.

After a slow start to the match, Parma broke through at the first real opportunity.

Emanuele Valeri played the ball across the pitch from the left and Theo Hernandez’s slip allowed Cancellieri to gain possession, cut inside before firing a shot from outside the box from a low corner into the far corner.

Milan, which looked rather toothless in attack, had the ball in the net four minutes later, but Alvaro Morata was clearly offside and had to take a penalty to get back on equal terms.

Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki pushed Strahinja Pavlovic in the back after a corner kick, and while Suzuki turned the right way, Pulisic delivered a spot kick low into the corner.

In the first minute of the second half, Suzuki saved Morata’s back shot and Valeri was there to block Morata’s shot off the deflection.

Suzuki then made a fingertip save from Reijnders’ low shot, and Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was also called upon to come off his line and block Valentin Mihaila’s shot.

Ismael Bennacer’s poor back pass gave Parma possession, and after Maignan saved Drissa Camara’s initial shot, Del Prato found the net and Parma looked set to stun the frustrated San Siro crowd.

Pavlovic’s goal was disallowed two minutes from time, but Milan somehow found a way to not only save the draw, but also steal the victory.

Reijnders beat an offside trap from Yunus Musah’s pass to calmly pass Suzuki, and when Pavlovic’s header deflected off Chukwueze’s thigh in front of goal three minutes later, Suzuki was unable to keep the ball out of the net.
