PGML announced that police are investigating threats and abuse aimed at referee Michael Oliver.
the time ArsenalIn Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wolves, Oliver controversially sent off Miles Lewis-Skelley for a challenge on Matt Doherty.
PGML’s Match Center X later confirmed that the challenge was deemed ‘serious foul play’, which was checked by varsity Darren England.
This decision caused a huge backlash Mikel Arteta Saying he was ‘confused’ about the call and Arsenal will appeal it.
PGML on Sunday released a statement condemning the threat which has since been forwarded to Oliver.
The statement read: ‘We are appalled by the threats and abuse that have followed Michael Oliver Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal fixtures.
‘No officer should be subjected to abuse of any kind, let alone the vile attacks aimed at Michael and his family over the past 24 hours.

It is not the first time police have been called to investigate abuse related to the 39-year-old.
In April 2018, police investigated threatening messages sent to Oliver’s wife Lucy after she posted her phone number on social media.
On that occasion Oliver scored a last-minute penalty as Real Madrid dumped Juventus out of the Champions League.
