Leicester Tigers, Michael Cheik, will leave at the end of the season after he decided not to extend the contract with the club.
Cheik, a former coach of both Australia and Argentina, joined Leicester for an annual contract in June last year.
“Although disappointed, taking into account the positive impact of Michael, since he joined us in the summer, we were always aware of this year and we were transparent to players, employees and fans,” said Leicester Tigers General Director Andrea Pinchen.
“As we said throughout Michael, we would like to extend our time as the main trainer, but understanding why this will not happen.”
“It is obvious that Michael is fully obliged to have a successful perception of his trainer, determined to add silver software to the trophy cabinet at Mattiola Woods Welford Road, and we are excited about what remains in this campaign.”
Speculation has already associated the former coach Leicester and former coach Munster, Graham Rowntree as a potential successor.
In the process of finding the deputy Cheiki Pinchen he added: “Knowing that it was an annual contract, the club conducts the recruitment process to find the right deputy coach.”
