Aussie Green well-placed at Tournament of Champions

Australian Hannah Green says she is well placed, even though she is five shots behind the escaping leader in the first round in the opening tournament of the LPGA season in Florida.

Green registered two at the age of 70 in the Champions Tournament, when Lim Kim from South Korea fired Szterling seven than 65 years at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando.

Country Green Minjee Lee even ended even after the round opening the mountain queue with four birds and four Bogey.

Kim runs the pitch with four arrows with Korean South Korea Jin Young Ko and Thailand Patty Tavatanakit dividing the second place into three under, while the world No. 1 Nelly Korda scored one at the age of 71.

But West Australian Green believes that she is prepared for a challenge after blowing up the cobweb in its first competitive round of the year, which included four birds and two bogeys.

“I hit a few shots that were not so wonderful,” Green said.

“But it seems to me that this is how you take six, seven weeks (discounts) without playing the right competition.

“I pulled a lot from my round. I made a few bogeys, but I felt that I came across a few good shots and good puts.

“Overall, to shoot two below, even though I’m quite far after the first round, I still feel that I am in a good position to have good results and, I hope, low weekend.”

Green begins its fresh golf year taking the world after winning three LPGA titles in a perfect 2024, moving his career on the road to six.

But the 28-year-old said that her triple light triumphs was behind her most important event last year.

“The Olympic Games are probably the coolest experience from last year, even though I didn’t win it,” said Green, who finished the draw in fourth place in Paris Games.

“Yes, it was really nice to have three wins in the tournament, but I think that the crowds we played before (at the Olympic Games) were probably the best crowds I’ve ever played.

“It was such a cool wearing of green and gold and having my band around me.

“But 2024 was such a good year and I felt like I was flying a bit under the radar.

“But I can’t wait to come to several events and defend … I’m still hungry to get more trophies in my cabinet.”
