One LIV GOLF LIGA player will receive a release from this year’s US Open, the tournament organizers announced.
The best player who is not released otherwise and is in the top three financed by Saudi positions Breakaway on May 19, he will win a place in the field in Oakmont on June 12-15.
The 10 best players in the April 7 classification will also be released from local qualifications to the third main championship of the year.
The slow entrance will change to two players in 2026, and the best player from the final 2025 ranking will be qualifying with another player based on the class 2026 points in spring.
John Bodenhamer, a USGA championship officer, said: “USGA still assesses the paths that exist to make sure that players have the opportunity to compete in our national championships.
“According to our historical approach, we constantly assess the level of talent on professional trips and amateur events, which led us to add a new category of exclusion.”
Scott O’Neil, general director of Liv Golf, accepted this movement with satisfaction.
“We are pleased that USGA has formally created a new release for LIV turtleneck players to compete in the US Open and appreciate Mike Whan’s leadership in developing a golf game,” said O’Neil.
“Every golf fan in the world wants the largest players in the world to compete with the largest golf scenes in the main directions. Liv Golf is involved in working in hand with golf managers to raise sport in all corners of the world. “
None of the other directions currently offers a direct place via the LIV class, although Joaquin Niemann received an invitation to Masters in 2024 and 2025.
Niemann and Sergio Garcia also reportedly received an invitation to the May American PGA championship.
