Marcelo: Real Madrid legend retires from football aged 36

Brazil defender Marcelo has announced retirement from football at the age of 36.

One of the most furnished players in history played 58 times for the left-back Brazil.

After the Brazilian club came to the position of Fluminence, Marcelo joined Real Madrid at the age of 18 in 2007.

He won 25 pieces of 25 big silver love in 15 years in Bernabeu with five Champions League titles and six La Liga titles.

“At the age of 18, Real Madrid shook my door and I arrived here. Now, I can proudly say that I am a real madrileno,” Marcelo said on a video on his social media.

“Sixteen seasons in Bernabeu, 25 titles, five champions leagues, one of the captains and many magical nights. What a journey!

“My journey as a player is over here, but I still have a lot to give football. Thank you for everything.”

Marcello was nominated in the club captain in 2021, he was the first non-Spaniard given to the club in the club in 5 years.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez says: “Marcelo is one of the best left-backs in the history of Real Madrid and World Football, and we have had the opportunity to enjoy him for a long time.

“He is one of our best legends and Real Madrid and will always be his home.”

He left Madrid at the end of the 2021-22 season to join the Greek Side Olympiacos, but finished his contract just five months after joining.

Marcello re -joined the Boyahood Club Fluminens in 2023 and returned to the club in two seasons, creating 68 presence.

After the public collapse with Manager Mono Menzes, the entire back was kept in mutual consent last November.
