Golf Australia bowed to the pressure of leading players, such as Cameron Smith and other interested parties, and will again separate the opening of men and women.
Over the past three Australian open men and women play in the same two places at the end of November and early December.
The opening of the two -legged sex 2022 and 2024 were in the Kingston Heath and Victoria golf clubs, while both national championships were settled in Australian and Lakes in Sydney in 2023.
While there were financial and logistic advantages in the scope of issuing two events-and the Australian versatility championships-self-needed, negatives prevailed.
Last year, the LIV golf star was the most open critic, slamming “soft and slow” conditions on two famous Melbourne Sandbelt fields, which, he claimed, reduced openly to “Golf in American target”.
“It looks like there was a lot of water and it’s not what I expected,” said Smith.
“The courses are in great condition, but they play completely differently than designing them and how to play them, which is quite disappointing.”
World No. 6 Hannah Green admitted that heels in Kingston Heath and Victoria have made it easier for men for women.
Australian LPGA Tour stars, including Green and Minjee Lee, would also prefer an open movement of women for another time much earlier.
The decision to re -divide two events was made after the annual review of GA.
“We are proud of what has been achieved in the last three years thanks to the mixed sex of the Australian, along with the All-Aluta Championships,” said GA James Sutherland General General.
“In the case of crowds of records and transmission, many reasons are given from them.
“Our long -term strategy of events is to build a profile of our tournaments and present the game at the highest level.
“This movement complies with our strategy and will allow you to better adapt to the constantly changing landscape on Golf.
“With all this in mind, we think that this is the right time and we are convinced that both National Open championships will stand on two feet and prosper themselves.”
GA still has to decide on places and time flights in 2025. Australian open.
If the women’s event is moved to the beginning of the year, the next edition will probably take place in February or March 2026 to best adapt to the LPGA schedule.
