Liverpool are just one of many clubs said to be considering a move for one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football.
The Reds have had close links with Scottish players in the past, with Andy Robertson and Calvin Ramsay being just two recent examples. Legends of the past also include Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.
Perhaps it’s no surprise then that Arne Slot wants to continue that tradition by bringing in another talented domestic star, and the Reds should act quickly, with reports suggesting three other Premier League teams are also interested.
Liverpool wants to sign the Scottish star
According to Caught offsideMotherwell midfielder Lennon Miller is already impressing Liverpool watchers, paying just over £8m as his asking price. Brighton, Southampton and Newcastle are also keeping an eye on the teenager.
Miller, 18, has already captained SPL side Motherwell on multiple occasions this season, with the teenager recording four goals and five assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
Former professional striker and dad Liam has spoken enthusiastically about his son in recent weeks, but admitted he wants to continue playing in the first team rather than play in the academy.
“His next move is very important to play and develop,” Miller said William Hill’s The Warm Up show. “I don’t want to play at the age of 23 and then build myself up again.
“He’s a first-team player now and people respect him for that. His teammates respect him for that. So it’s difficult. He loves playing for Motherwell. He loves being there, but eventually there will come a point where he has to leave and continue his career.”
“It’s not as simple as saying ‘this big club is for you, so we’ll go there’ because there are many layers behind it; the manager, the ethos, the style of play, the style of the player you see that fits that mold, the environment has to be right. There are a lot of things to consider and it is difficult,” he added.
Miller has already featured five times for Scotland Under-21s, so we’ve got there FourFourTwo I feel it’s a matter of time before the talented midfielder leaves for pastures new. Brighton could be an excellent path for him to follow, especially given the success Billy Gilmour has enjoyed in recent years.
The Seagulls are back in the game Saturday’s Premier League games as they host rivals Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium.
