Manchester United have reportedly ‘selected’ a replacement for Andre Onana as they look to replace the Red Devils goalkeeper in the summer.
The Red Devils are in poor form this season Manchester United In the first 15 Premier League games, they achieved 5 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses.
They lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday saw them drop to 13th place Premier League standings New head coach Rúben Amorim has managed just four points in his first four league games.
Onana has been very reliable for United this season and he set up Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White for his second goal of the game.
Onana received much criticism for his roar after the Cameroon goalkeeper failed to block a long-range shot that came straight from the middle of the goal.
Reports in Spain now claim Onana “could leave” Manchester United and “eventually” head to Saudi Arabia, with the goalkeeper “raising suspicion among fans and pundits due to his irregularities in crucial moments”.
It is claimed that the Saudi Arabian club “may try to secure his services in next summer’s transfer market” and his occasional errors “raise doubts as to whether he is ideal to defend the Red Devils’ goal”.
Now, United “appear to have chosen a replacement” in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with the France international “becoming a leading candidate to take over the starting XI at Old Trafford”.
The Milan goalkeeper “is likely to spend his final months with the Italian team” as his contract expires in the summer of 2026 and the Serie A giants “face a major dilemma”.
The report adds: “While they do not want to give up Maignan, the prospect of receiving a large transfer fee could be tempting, especially if United are willing to make a large offer.”

Jamie Redknapp criticized Onana’s mistake for Gibbs White’s goal against Manchester United at the weekend, calling him “fundamentally very poor goalkeeping”.
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “You couldn’t defend him there. He fell backwards, his balance wasn’t right and his weight was on his heels.
“I’ve never kicked a goal, not even in training. But it’s fundamentally very bad goalkeeping. You can talk about tactical adjustments all you want, but this goal changes everything. You’re already on the back foot. ”
Critic Phil Jones added: “He’ll be disappointed with it. It’s going to be a tough watch. It’s one of those things but he should save it.
“He made a mistake but he is one of the best goalkeepers this season.”
But United boss Amorim is more relaxed about Onana’s mistake and the process the Red Devils are currently going through.
Amorim told reporters: “He (Onana) saved us many times, so we have to find a way to turn things around and score two goals to help our goalkeeper, like he did at Ipswich. The one who saves us at odd times.
“We already know it’s going to be a long journey but we want to win. It’s a tough job. We need to improve a lot of things.
“I experienced this at the beginning at Sporting Lisbon, even worse. Manchester United are bigger because of the attention, but for me it feels the same.
“It happens in a lot of teams but you just need to keep doing the same things and things will turn around.”
