Steelers’ George Pickens is expected to miss his second straight game in Week 15 vs. the Eagles

In Week 14, the Steelers play their second game of the season at home against the Browns. Pittsburgh won the game 24-17 and improved its record to 10-3. They have a record of 7 wins and 1 loss in their past eight games. The Steelers were without wide receiver George Pickens against Cleveland in Week 14.

He was ruled out with a hamstring injury, which limited Russell Wilson’s explosiveness as a passer. On Tuesday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Pickens’ hamstring is more serious than it appears. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Pickens is theoretically available but playing against the Eagles in Week 15 is “doubtful.” Pittsburgh is looking at bigger prospects and wants to protect Pickens so he can compete in the postseason.

George Pickens likely out for Steelers in Week 15

With their second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected George Pickens Leaving Georgia. Pickens appeared in all 17 games in each of his first two seasons with Pittsburgh. The 23-year-old will not be able to achieve the feat in 2024 after missing Week 14. Pickens is in danger of missing back-to-back games for the first time in his career. In 12 games in 2024, Pickens had 55 catches for 850 yards and three touchdowns.

Justin Fields was Pittsburgh’s quarterback through the first six games of the season. When Fields started, Pickens averaged 60.2 receiving yards per game. He has zero touchdowns. In six games with Russell Wilson, Pickens averaged receiving yards per game (81.2) and had three touchdowns. The young WRs have flourished under Wilson. Pickens is a good receiver and Wilson loves to throw deep passes. It was a match made in heaven. However, Pickens was out in Week 14 and he will likely miss Week 15 as well. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury and the team won’t risk losing him long-term. If he needs to miss another week, Pittsburgh will let that happen. The Steelers will face the Eagles on the road this weekend.
