Sources — Nathan Eovaldi, Rangers agree to free-agent deal

Nathan Eowaldi agreed to the terms with Texas Rangers sources told ESPN on Tuesday that the deal keeps him with the team he helped win the World Series in 2023.

The contract is for three years and is worth $75 million, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Eovaldi, who will be 35 at the start of next season, has played in 29 games for Texas this year, going 12-8 with a 3.80 ERA. In his 13-year career, he is 91-81 and has an ERA of 4.07.

Eovaldi has long had a reputation for being diligent in his preparations as well as a positive mentor for his teammates.

The Rangers failed to make the 2024 playoffs after winning the championship, and internally the Texas staff felt it was necessary to add at least one starting pitcher from the free agent market.
