Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson hopes this teammate Mohamed Salah will remain at the club for next season.
Salah will become a free agent in June 2025 and recently stated that he had not received the previous offer from Liverpool to continue working at the club, stating that he was “more outside than inside the club”.
“We all want him to extend his contract and stay at the club,” Alisson said of Salah after Tuesday’s match 1-0 Victory in the Champions League at Girona. I want the best for the club and for him.”
Salah, 32, is in his seventh season with Liverpool and has impressed this campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists in 22 games.
Alisson expressed confidence that the rumors surrounding Salah’s future have no impact on the player’s performance.
“He is very calm,” he added Brazil said the goalkeeper. “He doesn’t seem to let these types of situations affect him. Mentally, he is very focused on his goals.”
It was Salah’s penalty in Girona that allowed Liverpool to maintain 100% of their Champions League record with six wins from six games.
“The important thing is that we continue to do what we do,” Alisson said. “We didn’t play a brilliant match [against Girona]. We know we could have done better, but it was enough to get the three points and maintain the winning streak.
“We know how important it is to finish the season in the top eight [in the Champions League.] We were very focused on this goal.”
Liverpool is leading the Champions League group and has already secured a place in the play-offs. Alisson also had reason to celebrate on Tuesday when he returned to action for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in early October.
“My goal was to be back 100%,” he said. “I want to maintain continuity before we start a crucial stage of the season. There are important matches ahead of us. It’s important to feel good at the decisive moment of the season First league in January and I will be in my best shape.”
