After Sunday’s win over Carolina, Brown said he wants to see the passing game improve. Eagles fans and the NFL media were not happy about this. The Eagles’ offensive identity has changed with the signing of free agent Saquon Barkley this offseason. Over the past two seasons, Philadelphia’s scheme has been a combination of passing, quarterback running and the run. Now, teams are consistently giving Barkley 20+ passes in a game while throwing far fewer passes. This frustrated Pro Bowler AJ Brown. He has nine catches for 109 yards over the past two games. The Browns have never had more than six catches in a game this season.
Jalen Hurt’s passing yards per game (200.2) are near the lowest of his career as a full-time starter in the NFL. When teams dominate the run game, they don’t need to hurt the passing game as much. The momentum couldn’t be better for Philadelphia, who are riding a nine-game winning streak. Addressing the passing game is something the Eagles can focus on over the final four games in 2024.
