ESPN college football analyst Dan Mullen, former head coach Florida and mississippiagreed in principle to a five-year agreement University of Nevada, Las VegasHe is the next head coach, a source told ESPN’s Pete Temel on Thursday.
A source told ESPN that the deal has not yet been signed but is expected to be finalized in the near future.
Mullen, 52, last coached the Gators in 2021 when he was fired after a 34-15 record in four seasons, an SEC Championship Game appearance and three New Year’s Six bowl games. Prior to that, he went 69-46 in nine seasons at Mississippi State.
Mullen, who has a 103-61 career record in 13 seasons, will join ESPN in 2022 as a college football analyst.

Odom compiled a 19-8 record in two seasons and led the Rebels to the Mountain West Championship Game back-to-back years.
The Rebels will lose some key players, including quarterback Hajj – Malik Williamswide receiver Ricky White IIIdefender Jackson Woodard and defensive backs Jalen Catalon. Woodard was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, and White was named the league’s best special teams player after blocking four punts.
UNLV (10-3) will face Carl (6-6) Wednesday at the Los Angeles Bowl (9 p.m. ET, ESPN).
