Mark Allen remains on track to win a second Scottish Open title after another impressive break-building display, scoring three centuries in a 5-2 quarter-final victory over Noppon Saengkham.
The match in Edinburgh was high-scoring, with Allen winning his second treble, also doing so in his last 32 victory over Ryan Day on Wednesday.
His Thai opponent scored 87 points to win the first frame on Friday night, but the world number five equalized by winning the next frame before winning three frames in a row.
Allen combined for breaks of 87, 120 and 127 to make it 4-1, but Noppon responded with a 136 to cut the deficit to two.
The Northern Ireland player’s streak of 105 goals in the seventh frame made him cross the finish line and he can still bid to repeat his success in the 2018 tournament.
Allen will face Lei Peifan in the semifinals on Saturday after the Chinese fighter defeated last week’s Shootout winner Tom Ford 5-4.
Two other players from China, Wu Yize and Xiao Guodong, will face each other in the remaining four matches.
World number 27 Wu defeated 16th-seeded Chris Wakelin 5-4 in the quarterfinals, while Xiao defeated 2023 world champion Luca Brecel 5-1.
