Lakers coach JJ Redick says he doesn't know when LeBron James will return

LeBron James won’t be in uniform when Los Angeles Lakers take on Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, and head coach JJ Redick doesn’t know when his star star will rejoin the team.

When Redick was asked if he knew James would be available again, his answer was short.

James will miss his second straight game with foot soreness when the Lakers return from a four-day break to play the Timberwolves.

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer was off the team this week due to: excused absence for “personal reasons”, coach JJ Redick said Wednesday. It’s unclear whether James will even travel to Minnesota before the Lakers’ next home game against Memphis on Sunday.

James missed his first game in his record 22nd NBA season when The Lakers beat Portland last Sunday at home. The reason for this absence was also a foot injury.

James is averaging 23.0 points, 9.1 assists and 8.0 rebounds for the Lakers (13-11), who have dropped seven of 10 after starting 10-4.

Improved Lakers starter Austin Reaves was questionable for the Minnesota game after missing Los Angeles’ previous five games with a bruise to his pelvic area. Anthony Davis is listed as probable with left plantar fasciitis.
