Ahead of the much-anticipated showdown between David Benavidez and David Morrell, Jaime Munguia says he expects the two to weigh in There will be an exciting matchup between the greats at 175 pounds.
Benavidez, 27, of Arizona, is scheduled to go head-to-head with Morel, 26, of Cuba on February 1 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
With a wealth of experience under his belt, Munguia hopes Benavidez will be able to hold his own against Morel, despite the threat posed by the Cuban.
“I think it’s going to be a really good fight for sure,” Munguia told Fight Hub TV. “I think Benavidez should win because of his experience. He has more experience than Morel, so I think he’s a stronger fighter.
“But Morel is also a very good fighter, so there’s no doubt it’s going to be a big fight. Well, they’re in the same company, they know each other and it seems like a very exciting fight to me Fight. Well, let’s see.”
Meanwhile, Munguia is intensely preparing for his December 14 match against Frenchman Bruno Surace in Tijuana. The fight is Munguia’s fourth of 2024, following previous opponents John Ryder, Canelo Alvarez and Erik Basinyan.
Munguia suffered his first career defeat in May against Alvarez, but bounced back against Erik Basinyan four months later. On December 14th, Munguia hopes to build on the 10th day he emphasized –Bazinyan was knocked out in one round.
“I believe that after every fight preparation, you always learn something. We will try to do better in this fight, gain a lot of experience, and undoubtedly we will face the knockout with our arms high and then fight for All the people of Tijuana put on a great show.
“I think it’s going to be a great fight for sure. I’ve got a lot of support in Arizona and I’m grateful to all the people of Arizona who are supporting us. So, I think Tijuana will be no exception and it’s going to be a really good night. “
