Manchester City will face Manchester United in a derby clash at the Etihad on Sunday after a dismal run of form.
Pep Guardiola’s team performed shockingly they have won just one, drawn two and lost seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions, lagging far behind Liverpool in the title race.
Even later in the table, they still sit nine places ahead of Manchester United, but the visitors will be keen to take advantage of City’s advantage current vulnerability.
Start for Amorim?
Manchester United’s last three trips to the Etihad have ended in defeat – 3-1 last season, following previous defeats of 6-3 and 4-1 – but former Red Devils defender Wes Brown hopes things will be different this time under new coach Ruben Amorim .
“I’m not sure how it’s going to play out – I mean, Man City will obviously be weaker!” – he joked.
“Will this be the beginning of Ruben’s revolution? This is definitely an opportunity where we could really ramp it up.”
Amorim led Sporting to a 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League last month before moving to Old Trafford.
So far, they have won three, drawn one and lost two of their six games in charge of Manchester United after changing the team’s formation to a 3-4-3.
The Portuguese coach made several changes to his starting lineup during the first few games as he got to know his players better.
“Obviously we would have trained a lot more, the players should have a better idea of what he wants now, so with this game you never know,” Brown said in association with 10 bets.
“I think Amorim can pick his best starting 11 in this game. He had several weeks to consider his options and evaluate his players. This will be very interesting.
I think City will be better in this case, but Amorim would watch their games and know where United can attack them.
“It’s a derby. I previously expected City to dominate the ball, but with the way they are playing at the moment, you just don’t know.
“United certainly has a chance to go there and win. City have been really sloppy lately. “All the pressure is on City.”
