Liverpool FC staff party in cathedral halted over drug fears

Liverpool FC staff’s Christmas party at the Anglican Cathedral was closed early after reports of suspected drug paraphernalia being found.

The football club confirmed there had been an “incident” on Thursday evening, adding: “We do not condone or condone the use of illegal substances at any of our facilities or events.”

None of the club’s players or first-team manager Arne Slot were present at the event, which was held for non-football employees.

The event ended with cathedral staff saying in a statement that there had been an “incident” “that was inconsistent with our values.”
