Gary O’Neil: Wolves sack manager with club 19th in Premier League

Wolves sacked manager Gary O’Neil after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.

Multiple sources have told BBC Sport of his departure, which has not yet been publicly confirmed by the club.

His dismissal comes only three days after Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said the club was “united” behind O’Neil following Monday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

Saturday’s defeat was their 11th Premier League defeat this season – they have only two wins – and leaves the Black Country club in 19th place, four points adrift of safety.

O’Neil replaced Julen Lopetegui just four days before the start of the 2023–24 season, with Wolves finishing in 14th place.
