United boss Ruben Amorim leaves Marcus Rashford out of squad for Manchester derby

Marcus Rashford was left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad for Sunday’s derby against Manchester City, fueling speculation that United could sell the 27-year-old in the January transfer window.

Rashford has failed to regain his form which saw him score 30 goals in all competitions in 2022-23.

Although he has three goals since Amorim took over a month ago, he was substituted in the 56th minute of Thursday’s 2-1 Europa League win over Viktoria Plzeň. The club’s fans booed him as he left the pitch.

Last month, Amorim said he wanted to help Rashford regain his best form, but first the player had to “want” it.

Rasmus Hojlund, who scored both of United’s goals on Thursday, and Amad Diallo were named as the two strikers for Sunday’s Premier League derby at the Etihad Stadium.
