The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, which started in Brisbane on Friday, ended in just 13.2 overs on the first day with rain ending the contest prematurely.
Although the pitch has a state-of-the-art drainage system, heavy rainfall meant the pitch could not be ready in time for the match. Australia went 28 years unbeaten at Stumps.
There was no such stoppage on day two as over 88 overs were bowled and Australia achieved 405/7 at stumps thanks to hundreds from Travis Head and Steve Smith.
The forecast for day three looks ominous, however, with high rates of rain across Brisbane in the morning and afternoon. According to the current forecast, very minimal play will be possible on Monday.
