China’s Shi Yuqi defeated Denmark’s Anders Antonsen to claim the men’s singles crown at the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals on Sunday as the hosts won a trio of titles.
In the All-China women’s singles final in Hangzhou, Wang Zhiyi recovered from the loss and defeated Han Yue 19-21, 21-19, 21-11 in 74 minutes.
Shi defeated Antonsen 21:18, 21:14 in 52 minutes and won the prestigious title for the second time in his career, as well as triumphing in 2018.
“Playing at home makes me very happy,” said Shi, 28, who paraded around the facility after the victory and threw his T-shirt into the crowd.

“These people are passionate and supportive,” he added.
Antonsen’s Dane, reigning two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen, was not in China to defend his title after withdrawing from the competition due to injury.
The mixed pair of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong also won at home, defeating Malaysians Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei in three matches and defending the title.
It was a triumphant farewell to badminton for 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist Zheng, who announced his intention to retire from the sport after the tournament.
South Korean representatives Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee won the women’s doubles final, and the Danish duo of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen won the men’s doubles final.
