Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked manager Gary O’Neil after a poor run of four straight defeats, the Premier League club announced on Sunday.
“Wolves have parted ways with head coach Gary O’Neil and his staff. O’Neil arrived at Molineux just three days before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season, taking on a significant challenge and ultimately leading Old Gold to a successful campaign,” read an official Wolves statement.
Wolves are 19th in the table with nine points after a 1-2 home win over newly promoted Ipswich Town in their previous match. This season they have only two wins from 16 matches.

The Premier League side have conceded 40 goals this season, the league’s worst, and are in choppy waters due to off-field problems, including the removal of Mario Lemina as captain.
“We are very grateful to Gary for all of his effort, dedication and hard work during his time at the club and we wish him and his team all the best for the future,” said club president Jeff Shi.
O’Neil recorded 20 wins, 11 draws and 32 losses in 63 games in charge of Wolves.
