Penn State backup quarterback Beautiful Pribula he is expected to enter the transfer portal and leave the team at the helm College football gamesciting “overlapping timelines for the CFB playoff portal and transfers.”
Pribula, a redshirt sophomore from York, Pennsylvania, has played a key role in Penn State’s offense all season long, playing behind the starter Drew Aller. He finished second on the team with six rushing touchdowns and was also third in carries (38) and rushing yards (242), giving first-year offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki an exceptional quarterback to change.
The 6-2, 206-pound Pribula also completed 26 of 35 passes for 275 yards, adding five touchdowns and an interception. His biggest play came in the second half of an Oct. 26 victory at Wisconsin, when he replaced the injured Allar and completed 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown and added 28 rushing yards.
“The current NCAA postseason model creates challenges for student-athletes” – Pribula – he wrote on social media. “Overlapping CFB playoff and transfer portal schedules forced me to make an impossible decision. After lengthy conversations with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my intention to enter the transfer portal and leave the team to pursue opportunities elsewhere.”
Penn State will host SMU on December 21 in a CFP first-round game at Beaver Stadium.
Since the official opening on Monday, the portal has filled quickly, with many quarterbacks beginning to select transfer spots for the 2025 season. SMU backup quarterback Preston Stone also entered the portal last week, although he plans to remain with the Mustangs throughout their CFP tenure .
Allar and Pribula are the only Penn State quarterbacks to attempt passes this season (Tyler Warren has five pass attempts). True freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer, ESPN’s 76th recruit in the 2024 class, is expected to support Allar in the CFP.
