AUS vs IND, 3rd Test: We don’t as a team point fingers at each other, says Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah may be a precise destroyer on the field, but off it he has a sense of humor. When he met the media at the Gabba on Monday, he was asked about his assessment of the Indian’s batting, with the caveat that he is probably not a perfect umpire.

The spearhead’s retort was immediate: “It’s interesting that you question my batting skills. You should google it and see who scored the most runs in a Test (Bumrah was involved in the 35-run assault on Stuart Broad in Birmingham in 2022). Joking aside, that’s a different story. As a team, we don’t point fingers at each other. We are going through a transition period as a team, there are a lot of new players coming here (Australia) and it’s not the easiest place to play cricket.”

On the bowling attack, Bumrah added: “We are in a transitional phase as a bowling unit. That’s why my job is to help others. I played a little more than them. That’s why I try to help them. But again, everyone will learn it and become better. This is a journey that every team will go through.

Report of day 3 – India lose Kohli, Pant, Gill to finish at 51/4 on the third rain-induced day

Closely scrutinized on Mohammed Siraj, Bumrah had his report card: “When we were in Perth and during the last match (in Adelaide), he was in a very good mood. He played well and scored a few goals. In this Test, we have to give him credit because he struggled a little bit, but he still bowled because he knew that if he came in, the team would be under pressure. He has a great attitude and warrior spirit.”

Looking ahead, the speedster hoped that in the third Test, India would try to stay afloat against Australia.
