Matt Taylor: Bristol Rovers sack manager after a year in charge

Ultimately, the question remained when, not if, Rovers would part with Matt Taylor.

The manager, who has been a pleasure to work with since his appointment last year, has struggled to win over fans.

Rovers made 16 signings during the summer, but many failed to regain their form or fitness.

A lack of goals – Jamie Lindsay and Scott Sinclair are the top scorers with just three goals each – has left Rovers dangerously close to the relegation zone.

It’s fair to assume that Lee Cattermole’s “club appointment” last week has weakened the manager’s position.

There is now plenty of work to do on and off the pitch as Rovers head into the New Year.
