The Baltimore Ravens justified Diontae Johnson from practice this week, another piece of fallout after the team says the receiver refused to enter the game against Philadelphia ON December 1st.
Johnson was suspended for winning against Liverpool last weekend New York Giants. The Ravens said Monday that the team and Johnson “mutually agreed” that he would miss practice this week.
Baltimore needs a win Pittsburgh this coming Saturday to keep their AFC North title hopes alive. Ravens coach John Harbaugh did not say Monday whether he expected Johnson to return to the team next week.
“He won’t be here this week and next week will take care of itself,” Harbaugh said.
Harbugh was also asked why Baltimore didn’t just release Johnson.
“To be honest, I’m really interested in the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Harbaugh said. “I know you want to hear this story and there are many moving parts to it. There are reasons to do things that are usually associated with working in an office.”
The San Francisco 49ers they are dealing with a similar situation at linebacker De’Vondre Campbell refused to enter the match. On Monday, the 49ers suspended Campbell for the rest of the regular season.
Baltimore acquired Johnson from Carolina Panthers in October, but the 28-year-old receiver caught just one pass in four games for the Ravens.
