Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes “a lot of things need to change” for his former club to win the Premier League because they have become too “predictable” under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners have won just eight of their opening 16 games this season as they look to win their first Premier League title since Henry and his Invincibles won it under Arsene Wenger in 2003/04.
Arteta’s side, currently in third place, six points behind leaders Liverpool, have been criticized for their style of football this season, with fans and pundits regularly highlighting their reliance on set pieces.
monday night football, Jamie Carragher Said: “When you look at them, they don’t pass the eye test in terms of looking creative.
“You see this belief in Liverpool and when you watch Arsenal you struggle.”
Henry agreed with Carragher and claimed Arsenal’s attacking style was too obvious, but he did not hold Arteta to blame for their woes, instead highlighting the impact of his players, particularly Gabriel Martinelli. Bad decisions.
Henry said: “They are very predictable. The set-piece scoring has been outstanding. The last three goals in the league have come from set-pieces.
“When you see Liverpool going forward, you see [Joe] gomez, [Darwin] nunez, [Diogo] Jota runs. But with Saka, you know he can play [Martin] Odegaard.
“When you are in trouble at Arsenal, the ball goes to Saka. Arsenal did create chances but it was a choice they made.
“Martinelli knew he could give three guys chances if he went in, but he went outside.
“When you watch Arsenal you think the only way they score goals is from set pieces – we didn’t create many chances against Manchester United [when two goals from corners earned a 2-0 win].
“There’s no coaching issue. Arsenal don’t have anyone jumping anymore, but if you don’t have bodies between the lines to create bait, it’s going to be difficult for you to get the ball to the right or left winger.
“To win the Premier League, a lot of things need to change. When I watch Liverpool play they look like they are trying to win and others look like they are trying not to lose.
“If you want to win the league you need to grab it and win it. You have to find solutions.
“In my team, they help on the other side (right). Everybody needs to score and be important. Freddie [Ljungberg] Used to run between rows and scores.
“If you want to be a champion, people will adapt to what you do. What are you going to take with you into the new year?”

Jamie Carragher added: “Martinelli has to offer more.”
Asked if Arsenal need to add a goalscorer to their squad, Carragher continued: “I don’t think it’s necessarily a striker, but I think it’s an attacking player. For me, when you see It’s like chalk and cheese when it comes to saka lads on the right and stuff on the left.
“Now, a few years ago, Martinelli and Saka were almost at a similar level, but Saka has risen to become one of the best players in European football, but unfortunately Martinelli hasn’t joined them yet.
“I’ve always felt that the reason I never joined Arsenal over the last two years and even this year is I felt they lacked a world-class attacker. When I think about other teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, I don’t think they have that. Such strength.”
