Euro 2025: Wales happy to be written off after drawing England, Netherlands and France

Wales, the team placed bottom of the draw, will start the season against the Netherlands in Lucerne before facing France in St Gallen – a team they twice pressed hard against in defeat during 2023 World Cup qualifying.

However, many of the headlines will be about England’s draw, which Wales have never beaten.

The neighbors last met during World Cup qualifying in 2019, when Jayne Ludlow’s side beat Lionesses in Southampton before suffering heartbreak following a 3-0 defeat at Rodney Parade.

However, Wilkinson said she was not concerned about the hype around the match, which will be Wales’ last in the group

“I think it will be outside noise,” she said. “Derbies are one-off matches, not tournaments.

“Of course it will be an important event for the fans and we can’t pretend that it isn’t, but all three of our opponents are top-class opponents who will give us the maximum challenge.

“This isn’t a match that will be more special than any other, it’s just another top opponent that we’ll have to give our all to.”
