It’s unclear how busy the Red Devils are in terms of bringing in players, as Financial Fair Play rules mean money is quite tight. Ineos appear ready to do just that, with news suggesting that two players could be allowed to leave in January.
The first player is defender Victor Lindelof, with United preparing to offload the Sweden international in the New Year. The defender’s contract expires at the end of the season and United hope to offer him around £5-6m rather than leave for free. Lindelof is said to be open to a move away from Old Trafford, with several Premier League and Italian sides interested in his services.
Lindelof isn’t the only player who could leave, with United also willing to let Marcus Rashford leave in January. The Englishman has been out of form this season and now Sir Jim Ratcliffe may be willing to let Rashford leave to raise cash. Rashford has not been a regular under Amorim and was left out of the squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby.
Now, according to Sky Sports reporter Sasha Tavoleri, Manchester United have made contact with Ademola Lookman’s entourage Regarding possible transfers. The 27-year-old has been playing for Italian side Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig in August 2022.
Lookman has become an instant hit at Bergamo since joining, scoring 13 goals in 31 Serie A games in his first season, followed by 11 goals in 31 Serie A games so far this season , he has scored 8 goals in 13 Serie A games. Lookman’s performance was outstanding. Bayern Munich were also interested in Lookman but they trailed English sides in the competition, while PSG did reach a deal with Atalanta to sign Lookman, but the deal was rejected by head coach Luis Enrique. Atalanta are unwilling to discuss transfers for less than €50m (approximately £41m).
