Women’s ITF, Navi Mumbai: Ankita Raina reaches second round
Top seed Ankita Raina overcame a lackluster start to win 1-6, 6-4, 6 in the first round of the $40,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Championship at Ganesh Naik Complex on Tuesday. Defeated Greece’s Valentini Grammatikopoulou with a score of -4.
In the quarter-finals, Ankita will face Thailand’s Thasaporn Naklo.
Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, the winner of the event held in Solapur last week, once again defeated Thailand’s Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, the runner-up of the event, 6-4, 6-2 in the first round.
Shrivalli will face Polish qualifier Zuzanna Pawlikowska in the second round. Riya Bhatia beat compatriot Tanisha Kashyap 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals against Indonesia’s eighth seed Priska ·Priska Nugroho.

AITA Men’s Championship: Sarthak Suden reaches semi-finals

Santosh Trophy: Odisha clinch maiden win, Delhi continues unbeaten
Delhi continued its unbeaten run with a 2-0 win over Tamil Nadu while Odisha registered their first victory in the 78th edition of the Senior National Football Championship Santosh Trophy at the Drum Arena in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Delhi maintains its lead with six points from two games while Odisha has moved up from bottom to third.
Delhi led 1-0 at the timeout.
The capital side started quickly and took the lead in the seventh minute when Bhaaranyu Bansal struck a fine left-footed volley into the bottom corner. Ashish Shaw (65′) took advantage of an errant clearance and scored a close-range header to double his team’s lead.
Tamil Nadu are fifth in Group B with just one point from two games so far. In the other match, Odisha bounced back from an initial defeat to Delhi to defeat Goa 2-0.
The teams were deadlocked at halftime.
As Odisha resumed play, Rahul Mukhi (60′) got behind the Goa defense, entered the box and fired a low shot into the bottom corner to give Odisha the lead.
Kartik Hantal (64 feet) took the free kick from close range and fired it accurately into the top corner to give his team a two-goal cushion.
Goa have lost both games 0-2 and remain the only team in Group B yet to score a point.

Amandeep and Avani get off to a good start in LET Q-School
Indian stars Amandeep Drall and Avani Prashanth during the first qualifying round match of the Lalla Aicha Q-School finals on Tuesday Shot 70, 3 under par, tied for 13th.

Ajeetesh Sandhu shares lead in Asia Tour Q-School
Ajitesh Sandhu, fresh off a victory on the Indian domestic circuit, took a big step towards regaining his right to compete on the Asian Tour by sharing the lead with South Korea’s Kang Kyung-nam in the final stages of qualifying on Tuesday.
He shot an 8-under 63 on nine holes A and B at Lakeview Resort and Golf Club, finishing ahead of Filipino Sean Ramos, who shot 64.
Karandeep Kochhar (67) got T-12 on courts A and B, Pukhraj Sing Gill (68) got T-27 on courts C and D, Aryan Roopa Anand (69) got T- on courts C and D 44, Aman Raj (70) was a T-64 on routes C and D.
Other Indians in the field include Rashid Khan (71) in T-87, Ashish Kabthiyal (72) in T-123, S Chikkarangappa, Khalin Joshi and Arjun Sharma (73 each) in T-137, Honey Baisoya in T-137 (74) 165, Syed Saqib Ahmed (75) in T-179 and Dhruv Sheoran (78) is located in T-179 T-199.
Sandhu last week won the Vishwa Samudra Open Presented by Kapil Dev 2024 on the Indian Pro Tour, his fifth win on the tour.
He has had a disappointing year, finishing 82nd on the Asian Tour money list, with the top 65 retaining his rights.
The 38-year-old appears to be on a mission to bounce back from trouble this week. He got off to a brilliant start, birdieing his first three matches, then rattled off three straight birdies in seven matches to finish at six under. He hit his only shot of the day on No. 10, but followed with three more birdies.
Miguel Carballo of Argentina, Doyeob Mun of South Korea, Niklas Regner of Austria, Flint Beckles of the United States Bekkers and Australia’s Jack Thompson were second in the under-65 category.
Regner, who has competed on the European Challenge Tour for the past three years, was the only player to shoot 65 on the C & D nine holes, behind the top three – Sandhu, Kang and Ramos.
There are four rounds remaining before the top 35 players earn their Tour cards, with Wednesday’s games and Friday’s fourth round all advancing.
