Former footballer and manager Joey Barton has been charged with two counts of alleged malicious communications.
Following an investigation by Cheshire Police, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) allowed Barton to be charged.
“The charges relate to reports of alleged malicious online communications between Wednesday, January 3 and Wednesday, March 20, involving two victims,” police said in a statement.
Barton will appear before the Magistrates Court at a later date.
