Former Manchester United star Scott McTominay has revealed why his decision to leave the Premier League giants for Napoli was “very easy”.
He left at the age of 28 Manchester United This summer, he joined Serie A giants Napoli for £25 million.
McTominay He was linked with a move on several occasions before he left this summer. United decided to let him go as he was one of Erik ten Hag’s better performers in the 2023/24 season.
Nonetheless, it is felt that an exit would be the right thing for all parties, as if McTominay stays, he is likely to be sidelined and United would have to sell expensive assets to fund summer top-ups.
McTominay has been linked with former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte at Napoli following his appointment ahead of the season.
Conte moved McTominay up front and the former Manchester United star has made an excellent start to the 2024/25 season. He made 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists.

Speaking about his decision to leave Manchester United, McTominay admitted it was “very simple” as three factors influenced his decision to leave United for Napoli.
“It’s a big decision, but in some ways it’s very simple. I’ve seen enthusiasm [Napoli] The fans, I see the manager, I see the players, I see the opportunity,” McTominay told BBC Scotland.
“I took it. I didn’t look back. It didn’t take me long to make the decision because I knew this was what I wanted and I would never have any regrets in my life. Once I made up my mind to do something That’s it, nothing can stop me.”

He added: “On my last day I had to visit everyone and it was not easy to say goodbye. But this is football. This is life.
“Me and [Erik ten Hag]. He expressed his thoughts on the current situation. I said, ‘This is my career, I’m here to push myself forward’.
“In this case I have to look for number one and follow my instinct of what I want to do in my career and not be hindered by any other external factors. The atmosphere is friendly.
“I loved that football club so much and they were my life for 22 years but now I have moved on.”
