Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford admits he wants to leave his boyhood club after Ruben Amorim did not select him for the Manchester derby.
Rashford Alejandro Garnacho ruled out unitedLine-up for Sunday’s Manchester derby Amorim demands that his “standards” be met.
The England international has been heavily criticized for his performances and general attitude over the past 18 months. After scoring 30 goals in his first season at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag’s form declined severely.
Amorim’s bold decision to snub Rashford and Garnacho was justified as United came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1. Reports subsequently emerged that he was increasingly likely to leave his boyhood club in 2025, possibly even on loan.
Surprisingly, Rashford admitted in an interview with journalist Henry Winter that he was “ready for a new challenge”.
“Personally, I think I’m ready for new challenges and next steps,” Rashford said in an interview with Winter.

“I won’t feel ‘sad’ when I leave. You won’t hear anything negative about Manchester United from me. That’s the person I am.

Rashford also reacted to being left out of United’s squad for the Manchester derby. He admitted: “It’s frustrating to be left out of the derby.
“But it happened and we won the game so let’s move on. It’s disappointing but as I get older I’m a person who can handle setbacks. What am I going to do? Sit there and cry. . Or try your best next time you have time.”
Rashford also insists he has the “traits” to thrive in Amorim’s system but “certain positions” are “more natural” for him.
“I have the ability to play in all three positions. Some positions come more naturally to me and some I have to train more and do more tactical (work). The left side suits me best,” Rashford claimed.
“The number 10 on the left still suits me, but you have to adapt to your game. The biggest skill is adaptability. People may not see that, but eventually they will see that I have played in a lot of different positions under all the coaches. “
Rashford continued: “I’m already halfway through my career. I don’t want it to be my peak now. I’ve played nine years in the Premier League so far and it’s taught me a lot and helped me as a player. Players and people grow.
“So I don’t have any regrets about the past nine years. I don’t have any regrets about the future because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen and sometimes good things happen. I’m just trying to keep a good balance. 100 percent [the best is yet to come]. This is my mentality. “
