Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is ready for a new challenge, he told football writer Henry Winter on Tuesday, as he continues to be linked with a move away from the Premier League club.
Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday, but Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were ruled out of the trip to the Etihad, with new manager Ruben Amorim saying his decision was to hold his players to high standards.
This led to media reports that Manchester United wanted to sell the English striker, who has been with United since the age of seven, and the 27-year-old made his comments during a visit to his old school to hand out Christmas presents.
“Personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford told Winter when asked whether he was staying or leaving United.
“When I leave, there will be no hard feelings.” You won’t get any negative comments about Manchester United from me. This is me as a person. If I know a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen other players leave in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I will make a statement and it will be from me,” he added.

Rashford has scored three goals since Amorim took over last month, but he was taken off in the 56th minute of last week’s 2-1 Europa League win over Viktoria Plzeň, with fans booing the striker as he left the pitch.
The player still needs to find the form in which he scored 30 goals in all competitions in the 2022-2023 season, but he still believes that the best is yet to come.
“I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect my peak to be now,” Rashford said.
“I have already spent nine years in the Premier League and it has taught me a lot, helped me develop as a player and as a person. That’s why I don’t regret these nine years. “I won’t regret moving on because I take everything day by day and sometimes bad things happen and sometimes good things happen,” he added.
