Luke Littler wins BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year 2024 award

He was presented the trophy by Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – a former sprinter who won the award in 2005 – and former rugby union player Jodie Ounsley, both stars of the BBC’s Gladiators TV show.

Skateboarder Sky Brown, 16, and para swimmer William Ellard, 18, were also shortlisted for the award.

The name Littler became a household name in early 2024 having reached the World Cup final at the age of just 16 years and 347 days.

The achievement was just the start of a year full of trophies, with Littler’s titles including winning the Premier League Darts, the Grand Slam and the World Series of Darts finals.

Littler rose from 164th to fourth in the world rankings and earned more than £1 million in prize money in 2024.

The judging panel for the Youth Sports Personality of the Year category included Paralympic gold medalist Sammi Kinghorn, Olympic freestyle BMX silver medalist Keiran Reilly, TV presenter Qasa Alom and Radio 1 DJ Jeremiah Asiamah, as well as representatives from the Youth Sport Trust, Blue Peter and BBC Sport .
