Browns switch from turnover-prone Jameis Winston to Dorian Thompson-Robinson at QB

The Cleveland Browns quarterbacks start Dorian Thompson-Robinson on Sunday in Cincinnati, with the change coming later Jameis Winston he handed over three more interceptions, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Winston, who took over Cleveland’s job in October when Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending injurywas left on the bench after throwing his third pick – and eighth in three games – in the fourth quarter Sunday’s defeat 21:7 down Kansas City Chiefs.

Thompson-Robinson finished the match and will now face Bengals (6-8), the person who spoke to the AP said on condition of anonymity because the team did not comment.

The Browns (3-11) will be sidelined on Tuesday.

On Monday, coach Kevin Stefanski said he and his staff were working on plans at QB, but his lack of commitment to Winston was a strong signal he would make a change in favor of Thompson-Robinson.

Although Winston did revitalize Cleveland’s offense, he went 2-5 and had 12 steals. Two weeks ago he passed for 497 yards against Denver, but… He threw a pair of interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.

2023 fifth round pick from University of CaliforniaThompson-Robinson went 1-2 in three starts as a rookie last season. Over two years, he completed 75 of 146 passes (51.4%) for 540 yards and a touchdown. He had seven interceptions.

He is expected to play in the final three games, giving the organization a better rating with the 2025 position undecided.

The Browns have high hopes for the 25-year-old and will use the next three games to evaluate Thompson-Robinson’s development and see if he will be their starter in 2025.
