After extensive testing, Fowler ended up in the Cobra DS Adapt X rather than the bottom-spinning LS version. For Fowler, the X head helps him find the fairway he was looking for.
“For me, the X-head, it wasn’t that it was any or significantly slower than the LS,” Fowler said. “It was more a question of stability. I like to play off the fairway whenever possible. This was an important factor for me, as were all the tests I did. “
Fowler also spoke highly of Cobra’s new transducer technology, which includes the FutureFit33 hose system that allows for 33 different lie-flat and loft combinations per transducer head.
“Definitely a lot more adjustability and tuning,” Fowler said. “Before, you just had a few heads and a few different loft options. Adaptability. You were sort of stuck in whatever angle you were laying down and in the loft, it was just a normal positioning or potentially slightly upright. I think there were about 6 options before, now there are 33. Being able to adjust the position and loft independently is nice because sometimes you want a smaller loft but you may want it to be upright, or you may want it to be flat and vice versa on attic. It was nice to have more options to choose different things. I think this is one of the biggest changes. I feel like the Adapt head is better than the Darkspeed. I had some problems with Darkspeed, of course I still played Aerojet. I feel like I’m in a pretty good place with the X head and I’m playing it this week.”
