Newcastle United will wear the special edition jersey in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford.
To reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals, Newcastle know they need to play better against Brentford than they did in the Premier League a few weeks ago, when they lost 4-2.
Eddie Howe will have a strong squad to choose from, although Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Callum Wilson are all out through injury. However, the players taking to St James’ Park on Wednesday will look slightly different – thanks to a bespoke design for the home shirt.
Newcastle United team up with Sam Fender to launch one-off kits
As part of a special collaboration with musician Sam Fender, Newcastle’s one-off jersey will promote his album ‘people watching”, slated for release in February 2025.
Fender’s name and album will appear on the back of the shirt below the player’s jersey number, and a limited number of first-team shirts will be signed and auctioned after the game to raise funds for the club’s official charity. Newcastle United Foundation.
The partnership will celebrate Fender’s return to St James’ Park next June following the conclusion of the Premier League season for a three-show sell-out tour. He also previously performed there in the summer of 2023.
Commenting on the exclusive partnership, Newcastle United Chief Commercial Officer Peter Silverstone said: “Newcastle United and Sam Fender have become symbols of pride in the region and bring joy to audiences around the world. It’s a fantastic game and one that’s built on creativity. Another opportunity to connect with Sam in a way that will inspire our supporters and benefit the community.
“Anticipation continues to build for Sam’s concert at St James’ Park, which will not only allow us to promote his latest album but also give us another opportunity to showcase Newcastle United’s history to supporters and donations from the auction will be used Support the Newcastle United Foundation as they continue to do their incredible work across the region.”
While the one-off shirts remain largely the same, the new details are welcome and the shirts auctioned will also contribute to charity.
