Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have held talks over signing a France international next month, according to a recent report.
Manchester City transfer news
The January transfer window could be perfect timing for Guardiola and City as this is just one win in their last 11 games. It’s always a difficult month to do business, but the Blues appear to have their eyes on a number of potential targets.
Signing a replacement for the injured Rodri is vital, with reports last week suggesting City were pushing to sign Ederson from Atalanta. The Brazilian has become one of Europe’s best performing midfielders and it could cost City £42m to complete the deal next month. But Ederson isn’t the only midfielder they have their eye on, as they could also sign Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

Guardiola may turn to the transfer market in January as he looks to end City’s poor run of form.
The Blues are interested in signing the Germany international in January, and given his contract expires at the end of the season, he could be worth just £10m. Guardiola is a big fan of the versatile Bayern star as he was the first to bring him to Munich.
AC Milan midfielder Tijani Reynders has also attracted interest from Manchester City, who are reportedly preparing an offer of more than £40 million to persuade him to switch from Milan to Manchester.
Manchester City discuss move to sign ‘full’ £77m striker
According to “Gimme Movement”, Manchester City considering loan move for Randall Kolo Mouani Moved from Paris Saint-Germain in January. The 26-year-old joined the Ligue 1 champions in September 2023 for a fee worth £77 million, but the move has not yet fully gone to plan.
Kolo Mouani, described as a “very complete” player by Kylian Mbappe, has struggled to make a lasting impact for Paris Saint-Germain. Last season, the France international played 40 games in all competitions, but only started 21, during which he scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists.
This season has been even worse for the striker as he has made just two starts so it would be no surprise to see him linked with a January exit. But in a surprising move, Manchester City are considering the possibility of loaning Kolo Mouani. The Blues have shown genuine interest in the deal and have made informal contacts through intermediaries to understand the current situation.
Kolo Muani is not in Luis Enrique’s future plans but that has not deterred Manchester City, who were “very interested” in his availability when he emerged on their radar two months ago. The Premier League sides have made no commitments in these informal talks, but Guardiola is aware that there won’t be many players of the caliber of Kolo Mouani available in January.
City’s decision not to bring in a replacement for Julian Alvarez in the summer is now considered a mistake, so the temporary arrival of Kolo Muani could help resolve the issue.
