Players for 2025 PDC World Darts Championships could earn some serious money at Alexandra Palace this year. The 96-player field will share as much as £2.5 million. This amount is almost forty times higher than during the first edition of the PDC World Championships in 1994. The prize pool was then was £64,000.
Since then cash prizes the darts offer is constantly growing. In 1999, prize money worth over £100,000 was awarded for the first time at the World Darts Championships. The 2010 edition saw the £1m barrier in prize money reached, and as of the 2019 Darts World Championships, the total prize pool now stands at £2.5m.

The 64 participants who take part in the first round of the World Darts Championship will receive a guaranteed cash prize of £7,500. The top 32 seeded players will receive a guaranteed £15,000. These players will take part in the World Darts Championship from the second round.
Whoever progresses to the third round will receive a guaranteed cash prize worth £25,000. After the Christmas break, the prize pool increases significantly. For a place in the last sixteen you can earn £35,000, and the quarter-finalists will receive £50,000.
For semi-finalists, the winning cash prize is six figures. Players in the final four can add £100,000 to the world rankings. As much as £700,000 in prize money will be drawn in the final. The runner-up will receive a check for £200,000 and the world champion will go home with a staggering £500,000 cash prize.
Cash prizes won count towards the PDC Order of Merit. This ranking is considered the PDC world ranking. The ranking is based on players’ performances over a 104-week period. Winning a world title usually means a solid position in the top four of the world rankings.
