Holloway began his career in football management at hometown club Bristol Rovers in 1996.
He earned promotion to the Premier League with Crystal Palace in 2010 and then again with Blackpool in 2013, and led Queens Park Rangers to the Championship in 2004, all via the play-offs.
His managerial CV also includes spells at Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City and Millwall before Saturday’s rivals Grimsby end in 2020, his last role before a move to Swindon.
“There’s not a lot of people who have already done it and looking at the names of the people who have done it, all they had was a passion and belief and enough attitude to keep going,” Holloway said.
“I have worked at least 7,000 days [of my life] – There can be three games in a week but it’s not always and there’s also pre-season which you do.
“When you add my football career plus my playing career, it’s at least 14,000 days. It’s an awfully big chunk of your life.”
