KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes will start for Kansas City Chiefs in Saturday’s match against Houston, Texas at Arrowhead Stadium despite suffering an ankle injury last Sunday.
Mahomes has no injury status for this game.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said earlier on Thursday that Mahomes took full practice on Thursday, the Chiefs’ last session of the week. He was also a full participant in Tuesday and Wednesday practices.
“He looked really good there,” Reid said. “He moved quite well. So you’re always trying to make sure they can escape and not get hurt. So that’s what I look at.
“I’ve been through this with him before and he amazes me every time. This guy was so mentally strong that he just went into it.” [from] where was he a few days ago.
Wide receiver DeAndre HopkinsWhen asked how Mahomes looked in practice this week, he replied, “Like always.”
Mahomes suffered a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 21-7 victory over Liverpool Cleveland Browns. He left the game and was replaced by Carson Wentz.
Chiefs also ruled the left wing DJ Humphries is out of Saturday’s game. Humphries did not train all week with a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the match against Liverpool in Week 14 Los Angeles Chargers. He missed last week’s victory over Liverpool Cleveland Browns.
The bosses took advantage Joe Thuneyusually their starting left tackle, at left tackle against the Browns. Before recently signing Humphries, the Chiefs did just that Vanya Morris or novice Kingsley Suamatia as a left-back, but both players were on the bench at different times during the matches.
