Spotted: New TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver at the PNC Championship

It looks like the PNC Championship isn’t just a tournament where legends of the game can have fun with their kids, it’s also a place to see new golf equipment! During the event, we spotted TaylorMade’s Qi35 LS driver in play, which we assume will be the lowest-spinning Qi35 head in the as-yet-unofficially announced lineup.

It looks like TaylorMade is showcasing the carbon fiber on the Qi35 as you can see a lot of gray carbon with a matte finish on the crown and sole of the club. There is a surface of coal there, but we do not see the “60 layers” description that we have had in the past, only the word “coal”. Additionally, the scoring lines have been updated. TaylorMade isn’t revealing any details yet, so we’re not sure what might change with this new driver.

However, it appears that TaylorMade has done away with the mass path we saw in the Stealth Plus and Qi10 LS drivers; now have two weights close to your face. There is a third weight on the back of the head, so it looks like players will have plenty of adjustment options to choose the Qi35 LS for their swing.

We can see the TaylorMade Speed Pocket close to the face as it has been a key element of TaylorMade driver technology for years. The crown looks similar to the Infinity Carbon Crown we saw on the Qi10 last year, but in this version we see a carbon fiber weave. The Infinity Carbon crown provides a cleaner look to the rider’s head as the carbon wraps around the edge of the head so that only the combination of carbon and titanium shows on the hosel. And speaking of the hosel, it looks like we have the same loft sleeve tip that was on the Qi10 and many previous drivers.

It will be exciting to see if we see more TaylorMade drivers in play in upcoming tournaments. We are also patiently waiting for official details from TaylorMade about the new Qi35 drivers.
