Everton Manager Sean Dyche said he had “nothing but support” from the Friedkin Group. After the US firm took over the club.
The American ownership group has taken a 94.1% majority stake in British-Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri’s club, which will move from its long-term home, Goodison Park, to a new riverfront stadium next season.
The acquisition of the Friedkin Group was announced on Thursday, with Dyche confirming that he had spoken to incoming executive chairman Mark Watts.
“I haven’t said much about what I want,” Dyche said at a news conference Friday.
“He is [Watts] I was really asking questions about the feeling of what I’ve learned in my time, the overall feel of the club and some of my knowledge and what we can do going forward.
“It was picking each other’s brains and a very casual conversation, nothing too heavy, but it’s clear financial stability is very important from their point of view going forward and correcting the position of the last few years.”
Also owns the Friedkin Group Serie A the club AS Roma.
Moshiri, former Dr Arsenal shareholder, first bought a 49.9% stake in Everton in 2016. By January 2022, he had increased his shareholding to 94.1% through a £100 million capital injection.
However, the club’s men’s side have had a torrid journey in recent seasons which saw them dramatically survive relegation on the final day in 2023.
Dych said he will focus on the results of the pitch as the Friedkin Group takes over.
“Winning games always stands you in good stead,” Dyche said.
“Besides him [Watts] Face to face made it clear, they have nothing but support from me, the staff and the team. But you have to win the game, it’s a natural process.
“From today’s chat it’s like a business approach, it’ll be hands-off and [a philosophy of] You’re there for a reason.”
