Amorim keen to ´help´ Mount after latest injury setback

Ruben Amorim says he will “help” Mason Mount through his injury struggles after confirming the midfielder will miss “a few weeks”.

Mount made his fourth start in the Premier League against Manchester City last Sunday but lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off with a leg injury.

Since joining Manchester United from Chelsea last July, the 25-year-old has been limited to just 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring just one goal and registering one assist in that time.

He’s already missed two months of the current campaign with hamstring and head injuries, and Amorim admitted he doesn’t know the full extent of Mt.’s latest absence.

“Several weeks; I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for a long time [time]Amorim said. “It’s part of football and you have to carry on.

“All I can do is help teach Mason how to play our game when he gets healthy. Try to use that time to think about different things.

“The worst part is that when you’re recovering from a lot of injuries we don’t have the time to train like we do.

“We’re always traveling, playing, we don’t have all our teams together, so it makes it really hard to recreate games before they come into play. [actual] game.”

Overall this term, Mount has been limited to just 413 minutes in all competitions, having suffered an early season injury in Manchester, where he missed five months.

In a post on Instagram on Friday, Mount said: “Words can’t describe how devastated I feel right now, you can probably see the look on my face when this happened. I knew what it meant.

“United fans, you may not know me well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.

“I’ve said it before, but I’m going to give it my all, go through this tough time and not stop until I get it.”
